Ledbetter Heights: News

Band Update from Fran! - November 23, 2008

BASS SOLO!!!

What’s up everybody? It’s been a while since we’ve had an update, so here I am, doin’ my thang! We had an awesome time Saturday night at the DU/TKE party; we can’t wait until next semester when we throw down again. We played a lot of the new songs we’ve been working on and they went over pretty well. Thanks to Sara, Julia, and Tyna for the awesome food after a long night!
I’m really proud of the new songs we’re writing. Tim’s drum parts are so sick, he’s striking a balance between what works for the song and what’s not boring to watch/play. Brian has been coming in to practice with some of the most intricate guitar work I’ve ever heard him play. Most times I can just listen to what he’s playing and be totally into the song. Nick has become a driving force in our music. His guitar playing has hit the forefront of our songwriting and his lyrics/melodies are in the driver’s seat when you listen to us play. (For those of you who saw the show last night, “Rise and Fall” is a perfect example.) As for my bass parts, I’m really confident in what I’ve been writing. Tim’s challenging me every practice when I write the rhythm side. Not to mention I have to keep up on the melodic/music side with Brian and Nick, not an easy task! But I keep working to better myself as a musician and contribute to our songs!
We have some really cool shows coming up so be sure to check our schedule and see where we’re playing! We have a lot of new music for everybody to hear. Some stand out songs to me are; “All Our Eyes”, “Your Presence” and “Still Fighting”. Of course the new one in B minor we wrote last week could easily be my fav sometime soon. It kind of has a Death Cab meets Incubus meets LBH sound to it. It’s really something different, so keep an ear out for it at our shows!
We won some really cool prizes at the LAMN jam contest in October. We got some professional promo shots, online distribution deals, and the grand prize, some studio time in Sweden! We’re looking to spend a week over there sometime in Feb/March next year. We’re really excited about this opportunity; it’s a chance to get a professional recording of the new songs we’ve been writing in the past couple of months. Tim is the only one who’s ever been to Europe , so the rest of us are going there for the first time!
So from the band, I hope everybody has a wonderful Thanksgiving! Eat well and not too much like I always do… Peace! - Matt “Fran” Franzoni

My personal favs:

Band update from Brian! - May 26, 2008

Hey, all you LBH fans!!!!!

Big news going on right now in the world of LBH, I just hope I can remember it all. First of all I'm proud to let you guys know that our very first "Rock"umentary of the band is now available on you tube. It's also posted in multiple clips on the main website www.LedbetterHeights.com It will also be available on myspace and facebook and potentially given out at an upcoming show…possibly Market Cross on June 28th. In the video you get a real close look at the band on the road, before gigs, in the studio, and also some sit down interviews that were shot down in the band room. The live songs featured range from "Daybreak", "There She Goes", to "Caged In Violence", and a very intimate version of a brand new song, "Remedy". And for those of you who are really big dorks when it comes to LBH songs, in the studio scenes you can hear a track that didn't make the album, well at least the guitar track that is of "Rise and Fall." I'm a little sad that song didn't make the album, but I'm hoping it's a good thing and that maybe it'll become one of our well known B-sides someday. As a fan of music, I'm always trying to get a hold of my favorite bands' B-sides and rarities. Good stuff.

As far as the gigs go, we've been trying to get out as much as we can, but the way the economy is going, it's sure not helping the situation. So in return we've been trying some new things out for the local shows. For some venues such as Knute's and Relax lounge, we will now be doing a full band acoustic show. Coming up soon will be our first venture down to Relax to perform an acoustic show. I'm really excited about this show, because every time we've done it in Ship the crowd absolutely loves it!!!! It really gives us a chance to kick back and show a little more of a mellow side to LBH. Plus, I actually started out on the acoustic long long ago, and it gives me a chance to really push myself as a guitarist. So come down to Relax June 7th and see what LBH sounds like when you take away the distortion, and hear Tim try to play a little softer then our normal shows....just a little bit.

We recently took a trip up to New York City for a showcase with a company called Los Angeles Music Network. I'll tell you personally I had no idea what to expect. We played at the Cutting Room and knew that it had quite the bit of history behind it (apparently Mr. Big from “Sex in the City” owns the venue). On the way up, I waited until Tim and Fran fell asleep so that I could put on some music that I knew I would get bitched at if they were awake. Driving in the van can be really annoying or can be a real pleasure. This trip seemed to just go as smooth as could be. We were driving on a Tuesday afternoon, which meant hardly any traffic especially going through the Holland tunnel, which is where we usually get backed up. Buck was driving, I had Dulcinea in by Toad the Wet Sprocket and everything seemed to be in its right place. After that I moved on to the new Death Cab for Cutie album, which is absolutely fantastic!!!! Tim woke up during "I will possess your heart," and couldn't believe that he actually liked it. Ha!!!! So, I knew right then that it was gonna be a good night, especially knowing that Tim and I were on the same page. We played the showcase that included the songs, "Artificial Freedom" and "Breathless." After the performance we sat down with the judges and they proceeded to critique the show and give feed back about our songs. All three judges had nothing but great things to say about us, and after all the votes were counted they announced LBH as the winner!!! Let me tell you something, it felt great. At that moment I felt like there was still a scene out there and that if we keep playing as hard as we are, and keep moving towards bigger and better things, that one day we just might get to where it is we're going....if that makes any kind of sense to you. As far as the contest goes we will advance to the finals which will be held towards the end of the year. Stay tuned for more details about it.

On a more personal note, I'm and proud to announce that I, Brian Stoner, recently got engaged!!!!! I never thought anyone in their right mind would ever agree to marry me. But, I guess she does love me. Also, if you get the chance go out and get the new REM album. I grabbed tickets to catch them and Modest Mouse in Philly on June 18th next month. I'm really excited about the show, I've never seen them live before, and I absolutely adore that band. So watch out Mr Stipe, here I come!!!!!!

Check out our schedule for upcoming shows and keep logging on to see what crazy things we're getting into. For instance, did you notice that we're playing a show at a car lot June 7th? Keep an eye out on NBC 25 for a Hyundai Hamilton commercial featuring one of our songs from Evolve. I haven't seen it yet, but I hear it's out there. That show will be at Hamilton Hyundai on route 30 in Chambersburg June 7th from 11am to 2pm. That show is all ages and there will be food and refreshments. That evening we will be our acoustic performance at the Relax from 10pm to 1am (busy day!). The following day, Sunday June 8th, we will be performing full band acoustic at Knute’s in Shippensburg for the Jones’ Family Benefit from 7pm to 10pm.

One last note: If you haven’t picked up our new album yet, you can now buy one get one free from our website! Just click over to www.LedbetterHeights.com and buy one and we’ll throw an extra in for FREE!

See ya out there!!!!!

Band update from Timmer!! - March 20, 2008

Hola everybody!

It’s your favorite member of the band giving you an update. Ha-ha actually it’s Timmer giving you the 411 on LBH. We recently had our CD RELEASE WEEKEND!!!!!! And let me tell ya, that was a lot of fun. New York, we had a blast and as always the Adonis showed us a great time and helped bring out the largest showing of the night. The next night at Market Cross was excellent. We had a great turnout and saw a lot of new faces. I’ve come to realize the new apex we have hit as a band during these three days. We are gelling very well and it’s a really euphoric feeling to have when you realize it onstage. That day, I also received a clean bill of health from my urologist woooooo-hooooooooo! And at the TKE frat house we had our best friend Pudge bring his band all the way from Clarion The Marching Order to hang out and play some tunes for everyone. All three nights were a lot of fun and had a plethora of people at each event to hear our music.

Now that our new CD “Evolve” is finally here, I hope all of you will pick up a copy which we will be selling at all of our upcoming shows and you can purchase them at our website www.LedbetterHeights.com I am so proud of this album. I was on pins and needles until we actually picked them up and I held the final product. It looks great and sounds even better. You can hear tracks from the album on this site or www.myspace.com/LedbetterHeights Now I know not all of our new songs are on this album but don’t get bent out of shape because we are planning to release them later on with some live tracks. The whole band is working hard and I hope it shows in our future shows.

Speaking of future shows I hope to see you at Knute’s in Shippensburg, PA on the 22nd of March to see our full band acoustic performance. Also, don’t forget, next Friday March 28th we will be playing at the ROCK SHOW AT THE ORCHARD. This show will take place at 8pm in the ball room of the Orchard Restaurant in Chambersburg, PA and feature Marsiglia, Josa Step and LBH. Just to let you know, we are currently planning the 2nd Annual All Ages Rock 4 Drew benefit concert to be held at the Market Cross Pub parking lot in Shippensburg, PA on Saturday April 19th. For more info and to see all of our upcoming shows click over to http://www.LedbetterHeights.com

To everyone who came to the CD Release shows, I say from the bottom of heart (how ever small and black it is haha) THANK YOU. If you bought a CD from us I say AWW YOUR SOOO SWEET!!

Now to end with a quote: “Without music, life would be a mistake.”
Friedrich Nietzsche

Hope to see you at a show sometime soon! - Timmer

Studio update from Nick! - January 28, 2008

Studio update from Nick!
Hello Friends!!

Time to let you all know what's going on with LBH! The anticipation is almost over, knock on wood. I think it's safe to say the new album is just a few steps away from being completely finished. Our new disc, titled Evolve, will be complete with 10 to 13 tracks, and ready to be in your hands by the end of February. We will be embarking on a small 3 day tour for our CD Release Weekend. The tour will consist of Thursday night the 28th of Feb at Arlene's Grocery in NYC, Fri the 29th we'll be making our way back home to Market Cross in Ship for a 4 band rock night. Check out the Shadetree Mechanics (www.myspace.com/ShadeMech), The Marching Order (www.myspace.com/TheMarchingOrder), and Josa Step (www.myspace.com/SecondhandSaintsBand). These are our very good friends who will be sharing the stage with us in Ship for our CD Release Party, come out early to support them all and their dedication to making sounds that make sense to your soul! You don't want to miss this one, this could quite possibly be the biggest show we've ever had a Market Cross. And Sat March 1st we're rockin' the TKE Fraternity in Shippensburg to round out an exciting weekend. New t-shirts, posters, stickers, and of course the new album, Evolve, will be available at our shows and online from our website starting that weekend. I know it's early but we would like to thank everyone who helped make this album possible and everyone involved to get the job done so you the fans can listen to LBH anytime you want. Thank you so much!

Once again, I speak for everyone in the band we are extremely excited for the release of this album. It's been a long time coming. Personally, I am very proud of the songs we have written over the years and believe we are currently playing our best yet. I am also very excited to say I will be enrolling in Berklee College of Music in April to study songwriting. I can't wait to dig deeper into the craft and creativeness of what I love most about music. I am looking forward to sharing my future knowledge with the band and with you all. It's amazing how everyday people and the experiences in life can spark the mind and allow me or anyone to make a statement about it in a song. This allows us to write passionate music that can grab you and pull you in and allow you to be excited about something in a way I still haven't figured out the secret to. Thank you everyone for supporting us in whatever it is we do. Take care of yourselves, stay tuned to the music, live life, love in ways you never thought we're possible and be hopeful and happy. Thanks again. Nick/LBH

Studio update from FRAN!! - December 17, 2007

Happy Holidays from Ledbetter Heights! We've been busy in the studio the past couple of months. I finished the bass tracks and Nick is done with all his acoustic and electric tracks. Brian is in the studio all this week to add his layers of guitar. Again I have to tell everyone the album is coming out much later the anticipated, but we're working hard to get the best versions of these songs out to our fans! The CD should be out the end of February. Keep an eye out for pre-release sales of the album and new T-shirts! Keep an ear out for some pre-release songs on our myspace site!

We're again working with Inertia Graphics, who designed our first run of T-shirts. We were so impressed with their work; we've asked them to help us design our album art and new web site! The upcoming year should be a new look and sound for LBH!

Since the album is being recorded thru individual tracks, we have some time to invest into something we've wanted to do for a long time…Make a LBH documentary. Most of you have seen our two videos on myspace and we would be idiots to not work with Edwin again. We will be filming with him over the next month to make a full-length documentary to be released around the same time as the CD. The documentary will include interviews, live performances, fan perspectives and embarrassing footage from our humble beginnings. I'm really excited about this and I hope all of you are too!
We’re headed to Philly! LBH will be performing at the World Café Live in Philadelphia on Saturday January 5th as an opener. We will also be playing at the Rivers Monroe CD Release Party at Grape Street on Saturday January 19th. Both nights we will take the stage around 9pm. So grab some friends and get to Philly, or tell your Philly friends to stop by and check us out!

So I've been playing a lot of Wii in my free time. Super Mario Galaxy has consumed my life! Buck wishes I would spend that kind of time practicing my bass. I've also been listening to a lot of music, studying, and realizing how many great bands there are out there. I'm looking to finally buy a nice bass in the new year, so I need $2,300 from anybody willing to donate! Anyway, I wish everybody the happiest of holidays and we will return in 2008!

Currently listening to The Beatles "Rubber Soul" album.

Studio update from Brian! - November 6, 2007

Hey all, what's going on? I guess it's my turn to fill you in on a what's been happening in the land of LBH. Well, to kick it off we've cut back our list of shows coming up so that we can take and put all of our attention on the task at hand, which is, getting the album done. Since we feel that we are writing some of the best material we've ever done together we're putting a lot of focus and discipline into this one. I wasn't a part of LBH back back when The Light That Burns was done, but from what i've heard about that experience we're really taking this one a lot more seriously. Especially since we're recording this all ourselves at Kevin Shannon's Studio. He has been a tremendous help to all of us through this recording. So far we've laid down all the drum, bass, and acoustic tracks. This coming week Nick should be finishing up his rhythm tracks which leaves Fran's overdubs, all my guitar tracks, and last but not least...the vocals. I'm really excited about getting this album done and getting out there so everyone can hear what we've been putting our hearts into creating for the last couple of months. But, I am going to let you know that it doesn't look like we're going to have it finished by the Fall like we said we were. Instead the album will be out this Winter or early Spring. Keep an ear out for it.

On a more personal note, I just recently got back from a well deserved vacation down at the Outer Banks with my beautiful girlfriend and her two wonderful kids. My parents were there too. If you'd like to check out any pictures head over to http://www.myspace.com/mofocrazie and see for yourself. The vacation really helped me to unwind mentally before the busy season starts up at my job this winter. I've been kind of stuck lately as far as writing goes, but I think that has a lot to do with the fact that all i've been thinking about is getting this album finished. After that's done I'm sure I'll be ready to write again. I've also been throwing around the idea of getting a new guitar, but i can't decide on what to get. If any of you have any suggestions let me know. Besides you Tim, I know you want me to get the Jaguar fixed...I'm working on it. Keep an eye out for us this month coming up because even though we're stuck in the studio there will be some shows out at Market Cross annd we'll be heading back out to Philly in the beginning of the new year sometime. Well, that's about it for now... see you at the show!

-Brian-

Band update from Timmer! - October 4, 2007

Band Update from Timmer!

Hello everyone! This is Timmer providing only the hottest update in the land -- the LBH band update! Since the last update the studio is going well. The drum tracks are on their way and the bass is not far behind. This album is coming along slow yet steady like the tortoise but in the long run it'll be worth it. It sounds easy to say that "we're working on it" but using creativity, emotion, and intelligence as a vehicle to enter your ears and hearts is really hard work! It drains your body, mind, and spirit if you tap into it too much at once. The Statue of David and the Sistine Chapel were not completed in just a couple of weeks. Not that I am comparing the quality of our album to the greatness of these works of arts but, figuratively this is our most important work of art and greatest endeavor to date, so we must take the necessary time to finish our piece of work!

We have played New York again and we had our best show up there. Nick was in a Zen-like place singing and playing every song with passion and consistency in the likes of which we have never seen. Stoner and Fran were yet again on top of their game, fully prepared and just simply ROCKED! I had a very good set and felt very comfortable on stage even though I was playing on a kit that didn't belong to me. Together we sounded as one beautiful showcase of the symbiotic relationship between us members that is required to perform at that level.

We also played at Market Cross where we had a high energy show. Thanks to everyone who came out that night and a special thank you to Tenessa and her friend Kelly for coming out to see Ledbetter Heights. I myself had a lot of fun that night even with the couple of follies I had while playing. My lips are sealed on the blooper of the night that Fran somehow pulled off! haha you know I love you man!!!!

The next night we went to a little bar outside of Bedford, Pa called Hillbilly Haven. As you can already tell, we didn't really think we would fit in up there, but through several reassurances we booked the gig and prepared for the worst. During the first set we experienced the good and the bad, we had limited response (bad) and we had limited hecklers (good). Fran put it best during our first intermission: "It was definitely interesting." The second and third sets just kept getting better and better and the crowd response and attendance was doing the same. At the end of the night we where hearing a loud chant for an encore. We won the crowd at Hillbilly Haven and only played 4 or 5 covers.

You know it's very reassuring to have all of our hard work show and shine in moments like these last several shows. It keeps reminding us that it's paying off and that we do have a chance at doing bigger and better things with this music of ours. No matter how much we believe in ourselves nothing is more concrete or makes us more certain of our abilities then when you, the crowd, enjoy and crave our music. It lets us know to keep pushing, no matter what happens within the band. You never give us a reason to give up what we are doing. Thank you so much for the great times and feelings of fulfillment you have given us.

On a personal note, in two weeks I will be the proud owner of brand new Zildjian crash cymbals. After several years mine can no longer take the abuse and I am forced to retire them only to bring in a new ensemble of sounds and explosiveness that I hope all of you have come to enjoy. In the mean time, I am still recording drum tracks and practicing my craft. It is a very busy time for me with working a job full time, practicing twice a week, recording on the other weekdays and gigging on the weekends. Sometimes, I don't know how my fat ass can do it but I am and will continue to do what is needed of me.

I would like to end this update with a quote that has nothing to do with what I talked about but hey I like it: "My wife made me a millionaire... I used to have 3 million." - Bobby Hull talks about his recent divorce.

Aloha! – Timmer / LBH

Song of the week: LOOK ALIVE by the almighty INCUBUS

Band Update from Nick! - September 13, 2007

Band Update from Nick!

First off we are currently in the studio, with longtime friend Kevin Shannon behind the board, laying down tracks for what will be Ledbetter Heights second album. We are taking our time to make sure we are 100% satisfied with every note so we ask you to please be patient with us. Maybe in the next update we'll send out some pics!

As for shows, the most recent have been great! Playing live is what we love to do and when you guys turn out to see us we feel extremely fortunate to have such great fans. I know we need to update our pictures on the site and right now we are trying to make some changes. So keep checking back for updates they are coming soon!

Coming up in September we are going to NYC on the 14th, which we cant wait for. We love the city, it has always been very good to us and personally it is my favorite place in the entire world! Also we will be setting up at Market Cross in Shippensburg, PA on the 28th. Market Cross shows have always been exciting and we owe it to the fans for that. Come out and see what we are all about, bring friends, have fun, and hopefully you will see what we mean when we say that we are an ORIGINAL band! The following day (29th) we will be packing up and heading to Hillbilly Haven in Fairhope, PA. I have heard a lot of great things about this place and we are excited to hit the road and play a new venue and town.

And finally our esteemed manager has asked us to add in some personal information about where we are in our life with music as part of these updates. I must say that I am very pleased with where my knowledge of music has come in the past years. I owe that to the people that I have been around, learning little by little off of them. Locking myself in my room and practicing doesn't hurt either. I am constantly working on new material for songs and possibly could be recording an instrumental acoustic album with Kevin Shannon when we are done recording the LBH project. Its hard work to keep up with everything that needs to be done, but in the end I wouldn't trade this life for anything. I am proud of what we've accomplished so far, how we handle things, and excited to see what happens in the future. Only good things to come!

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and keep your eyes open for more updates soon. Take care and we better see you at some shows. Remember, use the buddy system. Try to bring someone with you to the show, especially if they haven't seen or heard us before.

- Nick/LBH

Update - Shows, new songs, MMC11, opening bands... - January 29, 2007

"It's been a long December and there reason to believe" …that this band needs a short break. Fortunately we got that break and, after taking a lazy first two weeks of January, as Big Black from "Rob and Big" says, "It's time to "Do Work, Son!". We played at Gullifty's in Camp Hill,Pa on January 13th, followed by a road trip to Clarion,Pa on Jan 20th and wrapped January up with a great show at Duffy's in downtown Hagerstown, Md. All three shows went well and you can expect return visits in each location.

We have gigs coming up at the Market Cross Pub in Ship and at Gullifty's for the 11th Annual Millennium Music Conference. Our former lead guitar player and good friend Kevin Shannon has been working on some solo material and will be displaying his work when he opens for us at the Market Cross Pub on February 9th, stop out early and show him some love.

We have also been selected to perform in the 11th Annual Millennium Music Conference at Gullifty's and our song "Thru n Thru" was selected for the MMC11 Compilation CD. We are always looking for new locations to play and would like to know where you'd like to see LBH perform. If you know of a sweet venue or event, shoot us an email at contact@LedbetterHeights.com and we will look into it.

Aside from performing, we are constantly writing new material. Currently, we have seven new songs including "Maria's Last Lullaby," "She Feels," "Hold the World," "17 Days," "Among Strangers," "Deeper," and "Horseshoe"(the featured song in our promo video on our website). Aside from those seven, we have a few others in the works and plan to record early in the Spring with the anticipation of a new CD in the Summer.

We have met some really cool bands along the way on our musical journey and have decided to bring some of them in as openers at our Market Cross shows. Look for The Niki Barr Band(www.myspace.com/NikiBarr) on March 2nd and Pan.a.ce.a(www.myspace.com/Pancea) on April 13. Both are very talented, up-and-coming bands, so definitely plan to come out early and see them.

The website and myspace pages are currently works in progress. We are starting to sort through pictures from past performances and posting them on our webpage. You can check out the TKE 12-02-06 pictures that have been posted. Check back often for new pictures, updates, shows, and any other suprises that might pop up. Everyone around the LBH camp has stepped up their efforts and the guys are practicing their asses off. We are all ready for a very productive and exciting 2007 and hope you can make it out to share in the excitement with us. We will continue to push Ledbetter Heights as far as we can and appreciate all the help and support that our fans and friends have given us. As always, take care of yourselves and take care of one other and we'll see you at the show!

Updates, updates, updates.... - November 6, 2006

Thanks for stopping by the official website of LBH.

  • Things are very busy around the LBH camp! We've transitioned in the newest member, lead guitar player Brian Stoner. The new lineup has been practicing hard, writing new material, and is looking forward to unleashing the new sound at the upcoming shows.

Spend your holidays with Ledbetter Heights!

  • Join LBH on Thanksgiving night (11/23) in Allentown, PA at the Crocodile Rock Café. The Croc Rock hosts many national touring acts and is one of the premiere music venues in PA. Ledbetter Heights is headlining and plays from 10pm to 11:30pm. If you haven’t already, purchase tickets ($7) from us and join the party.

  • Next up, Christmas! Stop out at the Leitersburg Theatre in Hagerstown, MD on December 23rd (the eve of Christmas eve). LBH is headlining a local music showcase with special guests Good For Nothing and Marsiglia. Show starts at 8pm, LBH takes the stage at 10pm, and it’s $5 at the door.

  • Last, but certainly not least, New Years Eve! They are closing down Potomac St in Hagerstown, MD for this one! LBH will grace the stage at Duffy’s (new bar across from the Maryland Theatre) on Sunday, December 31st. We will have more details soon, make plans now!
